Annual Used Book Sale

Friday, March 28th and Saturday, March 29th 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids. Held the last weekend of March: FRIDAY, MARCH 28th from 9 A.M. TILL 5 P.M. and SATURDAY, MARCH 29TH FROM 9 A.M. TILL 2 P.M. Held at the First United Methodist Church at the corner of Warren and Elm in Big Rapids. Watch for our signs and banners around town. Prices range between $1 for paperbacks and $2 for hard-bounds to a little more for special books. Contact Millie Gillies, AAUW Chair of the Book Sale. 231-796-2460 for questions and donations.

LEDA presents: Talking to Kids About Race

Talking to Kids About Race: Ages 0-5 designed especially for Parents and Early Childhood Professionals. March 28, 2014 from 11:30 am - 2:30 pm at the FSU West Campus Community Center at the 1414 Family Drive FSU Big Rapids, MI. Light lunch provided by Tot's Place & Dept of Ed CCAMPIS grant funds. The Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance (LEDA) has researched and developed a program that addresses the need to talk to kids about race. This program includes a comprehensive and interactive workshop with an accompanying educational toolkit to train and equip parents, childcare providers, and educators of young children.
