THE MECOSTA COUNTY ROD AND GUN CLUB WILL HOLD A SPORTING CLAYS TOURNAMENT ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5TH WHICH IS LIMITED TO .410 GAUGE SHOTGUNS ONLY. ROUNDS WILL START AT 1:00 PM. FOR THE PURPOSES OF SCORE, ONLY YOUR FIRST TWO ROUNDS WILL BE COUNTED. A PLAQUE WILL BE GIVEN FOR THE TOP SCORE IN TWO ROUNDS. OTHER GAUGES OF SHOTGUNS MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE TOURNEY BUT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IN THE SCORING. THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. THE CLUB IS LOCATED 4 MILES WEST OF MECOSTA ON M-20. Friends of the Big Rapids Community Library will hold their Annual Book Sale under the tent behind the Library, 426 S. Michigan Avenue, on Friday, September 4th from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. and Saturday, September 5th from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. They will also be under the shelter in Hemlock Park during the Labor Day Arts Festival from 10 am - 4:00 pm on Monday, September 7th. Proceeds benefit Library Programs.
